A Boston village has launched its own “best dressed house” competition, replacing the popular Christmas festivities.
Organised by the Swineshead Christmas Festival Committee, the village usually runs a local Christmas event including a festive light switch-on in the village centre, however due to restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, that wasn’t able to happen, therefore the committee have opted to run a competition through social media, showcasing properties dressed up for the festive celebrations.
”The “Swineshead Christmas Festival Committee” (SCFC) are delighted to see so many residents throughout our village getting involved in our “Best Decorated House” competition.
We have such a lovely community and to see an abundance of festive lightings popping up throughout the village is truely a magical feeling. The entries are coming in thick and fast and we are looking forward to judging and then crowning our winner on the 19th of December.
We all know that 2020, unfortunately, hasn’t been the best year, we sadly had to cancel our “Christmas Market Festival” which happens every year. Last year we set a new standard being the most popular year to date with over 25 stalls, “the Hydro Bats”, Elsa, Anna and Disney characters all performing live on stage and of course Santa in his grotto delivering Christmas presents to every child, fair ground rides, an outside bar and an array of attractions for all ages.
We as a committee felt we could not let our community down and need to bring some festivities to Swineshead the best way we can.
We have also teamed up with our local school, providing them with decorations for all the children’s of Swineshead to decorate and 4 lucky winners will receive a personalised stocking full of presents.
COVID permitted, we are hoping we can complete our Santa Trail, which is a bit of magic from Santa to Swineshead.
